CCNYC 2019 Neighborhood Grant

We are happy to announce that the Kew Gardens CSA received a 2019 Neighborhood Grant from the Citizen’s Committee for New York City (CCNYC). The grant is for a revolving loan program, which will help us expand our membership and provide access to farm fresh food for our neighbors. Thank you, CCNYC!

Briarwood library 2

The Kew Gardens CSA has several members from Briarwood, and a small group of them is hoping for a site over near the Briarwood library for 2019. All of this takes work and community support. You may have seen us passing out fliers and taking names for a list of interested neighbors. Can you help us recruit in Briarwood?

Update: The Briarwood CSA will be biweekly in year one. Pickups will be by the Briarwood subway/library. Contact us at: Website: . And, we are on Twitter and Facebook @briarwoodcsa.

Meet the Core Group (again)

We have updated our photo of the Kew Gardens CSA core group (from left to right): Lauren Feldman Hay, Kevin Burns, Ron Tirino, Rishi Nath, Federica, Meral Agish and Christopher Blosser.

Core Group Meetings are generally held monthly throughout the season.

Core leaders will be present during distribution and we encourage members to get to know who they are and to bring forth any questions, concerns, insights or suggestions.

At the County Fair

We had a great time tabling at the County Fair of the Queens County Farm Museum on Saturday, talking CSA with fair visitors from all over Queens and encouraging them to join a neighborhood CSA group.

We were so happy to see our KG friends and members, as well as friends from Glendale CSA. It really gave us a boost. Special thx to Ron from the Core group–without him this would not have worked. I learned a lot about his love of nature and his activities around Queens wildlife spots.

And we stopped and shopped at the market.

Why not become a member of the Queens County Farm Museum? News, events, discounts…and you support a great institution.

They don’t know it, but I was greatly impressed by the students from John Bowne H. S. Looks like they have a great program there.

We thank the wonderful folks at Queens County Farm Museum. And we especially thank Amy Boncardo, the amazing organizer, for her generosity and positive energy. Thank you, Amy!
